My 1st Book Review

My 1st book I wanted to review is The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden. The 1st book in the Winternight Trilogy, it is a gorgeously written fantasy book that explores 14th Century Russia and the struggle between the worlds of old gods and folkloric creatures, and the new religion of christianity. It shows the fascinating relationship between Vasilisa Petrovna, and the gnomes(domovoi), ‘mythical’creatures and monsters that only she in her family home of a minor nobke is isolated rural Russia, has the ability to see. It is such a richly detailed and fascinating portrayal that I found myself half-belueving in these magical creatures myself. I am really busy tgis weekend but To Be Continued…. (Maybe its for the best so that I dont give spoilers)
